Ellen and Melissa met on Twitter in 2010 and have been friends ever since. With more than 30 years of combined experience in the children’s publishing industry, Melissa and Ellen have teamed up to help other authors achieve their creative and professional goals.

Melissa has over a decade of experience as an award-winning teachers, over sixteen years experience as a freelance educational writer, children’s book reviewer and marketer. Her superpowers include instructional best practices, writing pitches, ideation, connecting with kids, marketing, social media, and organization. She has two picture books coming out in 2026.
Ellen has over twenty-five award-winning and bestselling novels for children and young adults. She’s been on both sides of the industry, having also worked as an editor for twenty years. She brings her expertise to writers through developmental editing, helping authors refine their stories, strengthen their narratives, and navigate the publishing world with confidence and clarity.
